The Gods' Tale

The Winter Lily: Race!
The Gods' Tale, Chapter 2, pt. 2, Session #5

With their purpose ordained, our heroes began their journey through the The Green Sea, desperately racing to the Winter Lily to find Celevorn Swiftleaf before the Hunters of the forest. Blazing their own trail south along the Water Root, the heroes were eventually met with a natural puzzle: a fork in the stream.

Attempting to cross, Ragnvald found himself in the river, along with Tonraq and Finten. Being pulled by different streams, Tonraq and Lucrezia, who had shadowstepped to his aid, found themselves on the opposite bank. Traveling foward, and with the stream curving east, Tonraq and Lucrezia were left behind to find a way to cross.

Eventually, the two found a fjord after following a dire bear across the stream. However, their rejoining with the party was complicated when the dire bear, in an effort to protect its nearby lair, attacked them. Though victory seemed assured for the heroes, Nymeria used her ability to commune with animals to calm the beast, sending it away on a note of tentative peace. With danger averted, the reunited party entered the fabled glade of the Winter Lily, where they were met by An’Diel, a primordial treant and Guardian of the Winter Lily. After explaining to the party that the wolf who had led Celevorn deep in to the forest was in fact the Warrior of old, the An’Diel denied them passage in to the glade, and a battle ensued, ending with the heroes overcoming – but not slaying – the Treant. However, their hopes of healing the dying flower were dashed when the Warrior sent them away, saying that there was nothing to be done, and that the Lily was dying from the presence of sickness, but from a lack of presence with the life of the world. Connecting this with the Void that was mentioned by Amaxus Rex, the troupe left, to find there way out of the Green Sea….

The Winter Lily: A Challenge
The Gods' Tale, Chapter 2, pt. 1, Session #4

Leaving behind the mess made with the giant encampment, the heroes set out in search of a mythical flower: The Winter Lily, which lies at the heart of the The Green Sea, is said to win the heart of who ever it is given to. Celevorn, with a motivation unseen in him, declared that he should find it, and with winter waning, asked his compatriots to accompany him…

Venturing in through a small hamlet located on the north end, Celevorn quickly guided the party to the Water Root and lead them south. After several days of travel, however, they were ambushed by a group of four elves: Black Leaf, Talon, Great Bear, and Twig Snap. After a brief skirmish, the two sides settled, and, upon discovering the motivations of the group, the Elvish guardians denied them further entrance to the forest, with claims that the Winter Lily was dying. Allowing them the shelter of their tree fort for the night, they offered the tale of the The Warrior and The Maid, explaining how the Lily came in to being, and why it could not be taken should it be dying. With this, the heroes rested….

Waking from the night, the parties discovered Celevorn to be missing. Deducing that he had went in search of the lily at night, the Elves banished the party, believing that they had a hand in the deception, only to be challenged by Ragnvald: whoever found Celevorn first would do with him as they may….

A Righteous Cause
The Gods' Tale, Session #3

Moving through the path provided by the meeting of the hills, the adventurers met little resistance from the small communities of wild men and giant farmers on the outer tier of the rocky expanse. Several days into the hills, they finally came upon their goal: the gate entrance to the small encampment of Amaxus Rex.

Establishing a plan, the members of the party entered by permission of the giant leader, and immediately found it odd that the giants forces stood at a small 15. Parleying with Amaxus Rex, they discovered that through the visions of their shamans, the giants had determined that a force had begun to corrode the material worlds spark of divinity, and they they believed that this corrosion was the effect of the giant’s diminished presence in the world. When his knowledge of the matter was met with skepticism, Rex gave the heroes an ultimatum; become the staunch supporters of the giant supremacy, or be executed as traitors to the New World Order. In a fit of rage, Nymeria the Lighthearted lashed out against the giant commander, catching his “skin of metal” aflame, and initiating a deadly brawl. In the end, Amaxus fell to the arrow of Celevorn Swiftleaf, and the heroes left knowing that they had end a revolution that may have shaken the foundations of human civilization in the east.

The Gods' Tale, Session #2

Preparing themselves after their rest in the small community just outside the hills, the heroes were met with light of dawn, and with the approach of several giant legionnaires. Commanded to meet in Northend, the largest town within the region, the party, after much debate, gathered their resources and made their way through the plains.

On the first night traveling, at their camp, the party was attacked by a handful of bandits hoping to make a few silver pieces before escaping the now giant controlled Northend. Easily defeating the would be thieves, the heroes took their night, wary of any further attacks….

The next day found the adventurers entering the town of Northend, moving through the encampment of the giants towards the town square. At noon, the soldiers entered the city, informing the peoples of the region of the plan; all of the “smaller folk” would be united under the might of their elder kin (the giants), a new age of giant supremacy would take hold of the world, and any who resisted would be met be force. Naturally, this frightened the people of the town, and the party decided to take action.

That night, while the giants camped, the group planned an ambush that went off poorly; almost every hero who was involved was left incapacitated. With orders to take word back to Amaxus Rex of this attack, the Legionnaires fled, leaving the heroes beaten, bruised, and with the town decending upon them. They escaped, and decided that the only thing to do to prevent more hostilities against the people was to seek the counsel of Amaxus Rex.

In to the Hills
The Gods' Tale, Session #1

In the year 2659 B.R., Fate, in its infinite wisdom, brought the lives of several unique people in to the spin of its weave.

Within the lands of the northeast, rumors had spread among the towns that the giants were stirring in their hills. Stunned by news of the large folk after many quiet centuries, the peoples of the plains descended into fear. A small few, though, chose to take action with this news. Ragnvald, a Branhlyden journyman, sought glory in the hills, that he might bring back what he found to his people. Nymeria, a compassionate explorer, went out of curiosity. Seeking something worthy of living for, Morgarath entered the hills with blade in hand, while Celevorn Swiftleaf, lost in his quest for his father, entered believing that the divine had directed him in his journey. Finally, Finten Arthfael gathered knowledge of the events in the cities before entering, hoping to stem any violence that may come from the giants’ movement.

As they traveled, their paths led them to a group of ogre scouts. Together, these strangers defeated them, and turned their attention to finding safety from the dangers they had not foreseen. Finding recovery in a small collection of farm houses just outside of the hills, they all recounted their journey in to the hills with to each other, and all expressed interest in delving farther in to the hills to seek out the true threat…
